______ Romulus 31 Robichaud 0 Darius Ellis (31) and Demitrius Price (32) each scored 2 touch downs to start the season with a win. Joshua Horne (35) chipped in with a score in the fourth quarter to end the game on a positive note. Ondre Mathews-Griffin (1) added an extra point. Levi Adams (24) received two coach awards for key blocks that got our scoring started. Joshua Hill-Barnes(53) lead the defense with 5 tackles and a quarterback sack. Cody Mortzfield(86) intercepted a pass and Cody Barnes((42) made a fumble recovery. Everyone got to play in an action packed 32 minutes of football.
Highland Park 20 Romulus 14 Ondre Mathews scored a touch down and and extra point trying to catch up to a strong Highland Park team. Demitriuss Price added a touch down to add to the two he scored in the first game. Lorne Townes recovered a fumble and Donnavin Searcy intercepted a pass to set us for for a score to make the game close. We look forward to playing Highland Park again next year at home where we will try to even out the record.
Romulus 30 O. W. Best 20 Demitrius Price had his best game scoring 3 touch downs, gaining 181 yards in 7 carries and making 5 tackles. Donnavin Searcy scored two touch downs, gained 45 yards on 4 carries and made 7 tackles including a quarter back sack. We had a great defensive game with Rodney Cofield making 9 tackles, Lorne Towns adding 7, and Brandon Kelly adding 10. Coach Awards were given to Donnavin Searcy, Demetrius Price (2), Joshua Horne, and Cody Mortzfield for outstanding plays which all contributed to our win. We would also like to thank our parents that came to our game. We had almost as big a crowd as the home team. Romulus 13 Hilbert 7 Ondre Mathews threw two touch down passes and ran the extra point to account for all of our scoring today. It was Loren Townes' turn to be our Go-To guy this game. He scored on a 26 yard pass reception, recovered a fumble, sacked the quarter back and made 8 tackles. Valdez Green accounted for our other touch down on a 9 yard pass reception. Demitrius Price helped more on defense today. He is usually our stand out on offence. He intercepted a pass and batted down another one to stop drives by Hilbert. Our stand-out on defense today was Rodney Cofield with 9 tackles. Romulus 18 Willow Run 7 Valdez Green came to play today. He paved the way to a win with two touch down pass receptions (46 and 31 yards). Darius Ellis ran 61 yards for our other touch down. Our quarter back Ondre Mathews had a great day. He completed 5 passes for 81 yards and two touch downs. He made a key tackle on the kick-off team and was awarded 2 outstanding play awards by the coaching staff. Loren Townes had another great day on defense with 13 tackles, two sacks and a recovered fumble. Joshua Hill-Barnes contributed 6 tackles and a sack. Other Staff Awards were given to Levi Adams (2) and Valdez Green. Aaron Marion did a great job as our kick off specialist. Willow Run was not able to return two of his kicks for any gain at all. Joseph Herbert batted down the last Willow Run attempt to score by passing. Our seventh grade has several players that we are looking forward to seeing return next year. Many do not get much game time this year as they are playing behind some really good 8th grade talent, but they do come up with some good plays when they get a chance. Romulus 6 River Rogue 12 Darius Ellis ran 41 yards for a touch down and Lorne Towns made 9 tackles for the high points in a tough loss to Rogue. Each team had one big break-away play for a touch down. A fumble on the 2 yard line made the difference as Rouge recovered and made the touch down. _____________________________________________________________________________________________ |
